Perfect the base flavour in all of your Japanese cooking with Shimaya's bonito dashi stock. This box contains ten sachets of dashi soup stock flavoured with bonito fish rich in the umami flavours essential in most traditional Japanese foods. Use this dashi when making miso soups, noodle soups, oden hot pots, and more.

 

Background

Dashi is a hugely important ingredient in Japanese cooking, as it is what provides the flavour base for the vast majority of traditional Japanese dishes. Proper home-made dashi is made by allowing bonito fish flakes, kombu kelp seaweed, and/or other ingredients rich in umami to infuse in water. Nowadays many Japanese people prefer the convenience of powdered dashi. 

How To Use

 • Miso Soup: 1 sachet of dashi (5g), 4-5 cups of water and 4 tablespoons of miso paste makes 4-5 servings.

• Noodle Soup: 2 sachets of dashi (total 10g), 5 cups of water and soy sauce makes 3 servings.
