Glutinous Rice is also called Sticky rice. Sticky rice is a versatile ingredient used in many forms of Asian cooking. In addition to many savory dishes you may be familiar with, like zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) or shumai, sticky rice (also called sweet rice or glutinous rice) is also used in dessert recipes.

 

Cooking Instructions:

ABSORPTION METHOD-

  1. Put 1.3-1.5 cups of water to boil.
  2. Add 1 cup of rice and stir.
  3. Cover tightly lower heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat cover and let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.

MICROWAVE METHOD-

  1. Put 1 cup of rice into a microwaveable container and soak for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Add 0.7-0.8 cups of boiling water.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap and cook on high 100°C power for minutes (to stir after 5 min) cook for 10-12 minutes.
  4. Remove from microwave and serving.

For softer rice, put more water and simmer for a longer time; For firmer rice, put less water and simmer for shorter time.
